It’s hard to believe what Parker McCollum has accomplished with only his first full-length album, “The Limestone Kid”. When we wrote about the record in February of 2015, we knew it would be special (Album Spotlight: Parker McCollum – The Limestone Kid), but couldn’t have predicted just how much success the young songwriter would experience over the last two and half years because of it. Considering the tracks on the album have been streamed a combined 3 million times, I’d say it’s confirmed – Parker McCollum has secured his spot as one of the fastest rising acts in Texas!
With a lot of eyes (and ears) on him currently, we’re excited to announce that McCollum not only has a new single dropping this Friday, but also a few new projects to follow later this year! Fans will get their first taste of the new project “Probably Wrong: Session One” tomorrow, when radio single, “I Can’t Breathe”, becomes available as a grat-track when you pre-order the upcoming EP!
Written with Micky Braun and produced by Lloyd Maines, the key-filled ballad reflects on the difficulties that life on “the road” can create at home. “I was up late one night, before my co-write with Micky and I didn’t want to go in empty-handed; and I kept thinking about “a girl” and my touring –and the words “I Can’t Breathe” just kind of came out…” McCollum told us.
He then took the chorus and the lines he’d written with him to Braun, and the two almost finished it right there; with Braun finishing it a year later.
The final product will be released to the masses tomorrow and here at TMP, we expect it to make a BIG splash this summer! We are definitely digging the tune, and predict this one will not only be one of his highest-charting singles, but will also be in the Top 10 of our Texas Music Spotify Chart within the first two weeks!! McCollum’s captivating style, and sincere delivery really come out on this one, and the gut-punching chorus makes for a powerful sing-along! In other words, it’s a DAMN good song!
The single should also garner a lot of attention and eagerness for the “Probably Wrong” project, which will be released in three parts: Session One – 4 tracks (July 7th), Session Two – 4 tracks (later this summer), and then the full album; which will have all of the previous 8 tracks, plus the two more. So be sure to stay tuned to McCollum’s social media accounts for more info!
